Improve skin discoloration, stretch marks, acne scars, wrinkles and more

ResurFX Lumenis M22 Laser Resurfacing

ABOUT Laser Resurfacing

The Lumenis ResurFX is the latest in non-ablative, fractional laser technology to improve skin discoloration, stretch marks, acne scars, wrinkles and more.

wHAT IT IS

ResurFX is non-ablative, which means it stimulates the skin to develop collagen while leaving the surface of the skin intact. As collagen increases, the skin looks tighter, more even, and more youthful. ResurFX is also a fractional laser, which means the laser is delivered to the skin in tiny dots and to only a fraction of the skin. Since it is a non-ablative, fractional laser, the recovery time after the procedure is minimized.

how it works

During a ResurFX laser skin rejuvenation treatment, we typically use a topical anesthetic. Due to the non-ablative nature of the ResurFX laser, most patients find treatments extremely comfortable. Additionally, we may use a cooling air device that blows refreshing, cold air on the treated areas for comfort. After ResurFX laser skin resurfacing, patients generally have recovery time with some redness and swelling after the procedure.  Patients can return to their normal activities the day after the procedure. Recovery time is short and relatively comfortable. Redness, swelling, and minor irritation similar to a mild sunburn may develop, but these effects typically subside in just a few days. Sun exposure before and after treatment should be avoided and a sunscreen with SPF of 30 or higher should be worn daily in the days after the procedure.  ResurFX is generally completed as a series of treatments. Typically, at least 3-4 treatments about one month apart are necessary to obtain optimum results, although this varies by the individual and their goal.

WHAT TO EXPECT

FAQs

  • ResurFX is effective for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, scars, stretch marks, and uneven skin texture. It can also help with skin laxity and overall skin tone.

  • ResurFX treatment is generally well-tolerated. A topical numbing cream is applied before the procedure to minimize discomfort, and the laser itself has built-in cooling technology to soothe the skin during treatment.

  • Typically, patients require 3-5 sessions of ResurFX, spaced about 4-6 weeks apart. The exact number of treatments can vary depending on the individual’s skin condition and the desired results.

  • ResurFX has minimal downtime compared to ablative laser treatments. Patients may experience mild redness and swelling for up to 48 hours after the procedure. Most people can return to their normal activities the following day.

  • Initial improvements may be visible after the first session, but optimal results typically appear after multiple treatments. Skin continues to improve for up to six months following the last session as collagen production increases.

  • Side effects of ResurFX are usually minor and temporary, including redness, swelling, and a slight itching sensation. Rarely, there could be changes in skin pigmentation, especially in darker skin tones, or other complications like blistering or infection.
